Trailer Pickup Instructions — AZ Trailer Rentals Phoenix
Our contactless pickup process lets you access your reserved trailer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — no phone calls, no waiting, no staff interaction required. Here's exactly what to do when you arrive.
Before You Leave Home — Checklist
- Confirm your booking confirmation SMS — Your pickup instructions, smart lock code, and facility address are sent via text when your booking is confirmed.
- Verify your hitch ball size — Utility trailers use a 2" ball. Car haulers, equipment trailers, enclosed trailers, dump trailers, and deckover trailers use a 2-5/16" ball. Check your hitch before driving over.
- Confirm your tow vehicle capacity — Check your owner's manual for your vehicle's tow rating. Heavy trailers (car haulers, equipment trailers) require a truck rated for at least 14,000 lbs.
- Bring valid ID and insurance card — Required for all rentals. Your insurance must extend liability coverage to towed trailers.

Use your smart lock code to open the gate
Your unique access code was sent via SMS when your booking was confirmed. Enter your code on the igloohome smart padlock keypad at the gate entrance. The lock will release — pull the gate open and drive in.
Locate your reserved trailer
Trailers are labeled with their name and unit number. Your booking confirmation includes the specific trailer assigned to your rental. Walk to your trailer — it will be parked and ready in the lot.
Retrieve your trailer keys from the lockbox
Your trailer keys are secured in a lockbox attached to or near the trailer. Use the lockbox code (included in your SMS confirmation) to open it and retrieve the keys.
Complete the pre-rental inspection on your phone
Before hitching up, complete the short pre-rental inspection form sent to you via SMS. Walk around the trailer and document any pre-existing damage with photos. This protects you from being charged for damage you didn't cause. The form only takes 2–3 minutes.
Hitch up your trailer
- Back your vehicle up to the trailer tongue
- Lower the trailer coupler onto your hitch ball and lock it down
- Connect and cross your safety chains (left chain to right, right chain to left)
- Plug in the 7-pin trailer light connector
- Test your brake lights, turn signals, and running lights before leaving the lot
- Raise the trailer jack fully before pulling forward
Close and lock the gate behind you
After pulling out of the lot, close the gate and ensure the smart lock is engaged. This keeps the lot secure for all renters.
